Your relationship with food...

It’s been a wild ride.

Food. Everything was fine – until it wasn’t.

You don’t know when it started. But at some point, you went from looking forward to your birthday cake to counting calories, second-guessing every bite, dreading social occasions, and spending countless hours at the gym…

All so you can feel “skinny.”

All so you can maybe… just maybe, feel good enough.

But now…

Food is always on your mind. All-consuming.

Stressful.

You’re always looking for the “right diet.” Hoping you’ve finally found the “secret formula.” Hoping you can actually make yourself stick to it this time. And when it doesn’t work, yet again...

You find yourself eating all the foods you swore you’d never touch again.

And after a pint of ice cream, fistfuls of chocolates, and inhaling those stale cookies you should have thrown out last week…

You find yourself full of guilt and shame. You wonder to yourself, “What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I get this right?”

Disappointed. Disgusted. Hopeless.

You swear you’ll never eat again.

Again and again, this rollercoaster makes an appearance. Loop after loop – triggering your emotions. You look for some sense of comfort.

Food, your constant companion. The cycle continues.

And then there’s restaurants with friends and holiday dinners with family…

What should be fun is riddled with anxiety.

Rather than focusing on connection with those you love, your mind is fixated on not making another “food mistake” as you're surrounded by temptations.

What must life be like without the constant stress of food?

Listen up. You need to hear this.

It’s not your fault.

It’s not a lack of willpower.

It’s not because you haven’t found the right diet yet.

There’s nothing wrong with you.

You’re not broken. (And neither is your body.)

I know… because I’ve been there too.

Hello, I'm Michelle.

An ex-dietitian turned food freedom enthusiast.

I grew up just outside of Johannesburg, South Africa, and studied at the University of Pretoria.

I spent my early career working as a dietitian at top-tier hospitals and one of the best private practices in South Africa. I understand the science behind food, how it interacts with your body, and what really matters.

I used to say I studied dietetics because I was passionate about health and nutrition.

But, really… I was just desperately trying to fix myself.

After a few years in practice, I started to realize I wanted a more meaningful life than telling people to eat apples instead of chocolate.

As I sat with my clients, more and more, I found myself wanting to talk about what was going on in their hearts rather than whether they followed their diet plan.

That’s when I decided I wanted to go to ministry school, but I felt like I needed to fix myself first.

I tried everything…

Psychologists, Christian counselors, books, making promises to myself and others, etc…

But, in the midst of trying to fix myself, I felt God tell me it was time to go to ministry school. So, I packed my bags and headed to Redding, California.

I spent 3 years sitting under the most incredible leaders as they taught me life-changing truths. I encountered God, healing, and freedom beyond what I ever expected. It felt like God took me by the hand and led me step-by-step out of the bondage I was in with food and how I viewed myself.

After ministry school, I had the incredible opportunity to work for one of my heroes for 3 years at Igniting Hope, a ministry whose mission is to renew minds, set people free, ignite joy, and raise up leaders. I worked as a Project Manager, Beliefs Trainer, and mentor within the ministry school.

In the past few years, God began to speak to me about sharing with others what He had done in my life.

To be honest, at first, I didn’t want to go near it. I spent YEARS trying to find freedom, and the last thing I wanted to do was revisit the world of food obsession, body image issues, and pain…

But, that’s when God began to highlight women around me who were struggling, and I knew I couldn’t stand by and just watch.

Nourished is the product of 3 years of prayer, strategy, and planning.

So, if you’re one of the women who are struggling, I get it…

I understand the pain and shame of struggling with something and feeling like you can’t overcome it. (And what’s even worse, as a dietitian, I was meant to have all the answers.)

I understand the pain of putting on a mask to hide what’s really going on.

I know that sinking feeling of stepping on the scale only to find you still weren’t good enough.

I understand what it’s like to look in the mirror and REALLY not like what you see…

I understand what it's like to feel trapped, stuck, and so far away from the life you dream about…

But, I overcame it and found freedom!

After 12 years of battling with my relationship with food, I have been radically free from every bit (and bite) of food shame and dysfunction for over 7 years!

I actually love my body and have even learned to love exercise.

The Word promises us, “Who the Son sets free is free indeed.” Not in half measures but in fullness.

I am abundantly free, and you can be too!

It's time to gain freedom from the food shame cycle!

    • What makes this course different to other courses on healing your relationship with food and your body?

Nourished takes a body, soul, and spirit approach to help you walk in the freedom you deserve and long for. Many courses only target one of these areas.

In my own personal journey and years of experience, I have found long-term freedom requires us to go after each of theses areas.

Nourished has everything I would have wanted years ago when I was in your spot.

The coaching component helps to keep you moving forward and get there faster.

    • What do you mean by a spirit, soul, and body approach?

We are triune beings. Most of the problems we face have roots in all 3 of these areas. If we only address one, we will experience partial freedom or simply find another problem to take the place of the first one.

When I developed Nourished, I wanted to make sure I was covering everything. Everything you need and everything that helped bring me to this wonderful place of peace and freedom.

Here is why we target each of these 3 areas:

      Body:

The body is where we see the fruit of the problem. This can be our weight, exercise habits, food habits, or any problem that shows up in our physical world.

      Soul:

The soul is our mind, will, and emotions. This is often the underlying cause of what we see in our bodies. Here we target our beliefs – which impact our emotions and our will. We also focus on healing our emotions and learning how to navigate them and care for our souls.

      Spirit:

Last but not least. We need to consider the spiritual components. We are spirit first. Our spirits are the eternal part of us. The spirit realm is more real than the natural realm since the earth was created by it. To truly be free, we need to know what Christ has done for us, step into our authority, and align ourselves with Him. We need to know the Holy Spirit can lead us in all things, and encounter God's love to heal past wounds.
